Word is Microsoft’s standard word processing package. It is a very sophisticated piece of software which may have too many buttons and those buttons may also be too small for Key Stage 1 children to use. Key Stage 2 children will have relatively little difficulty using Word and should be introduced to it before they enter key stage 3 where it will be used extensively.

    Agreed, very useful for Key Stage 2 and above. Did you know that large versions of the tool bar icons can be used: right click on the tool bar area, choose ‘customize’, choose the ‘options’ tab and check the ‘Large icons’ box.

    Yes, I have also used it for Year 3 upwards. There are a lot of buttons but the children soon get used to the ones they need. Took a little longer to remember to tighten inserted pictures and use text boxes for information sheets

    Agreed..have used it with year 3. Biggest problem was learning to tighten images when inserting them.
